Film Noir Fest

The lights are low, the shadows are long, and somebody in this town is up to no good. Film Noir Weekend is coming to Tybee Post Theater on [DATES], with six of the greatest black-and-white thrillers ever made on our big screen.

The Lineup

The Maltese Falcon (1941): Humphrey Bogart is Sam Spade, and everyone in San Francisco wants the same priceless bird. The film that helped define noir.

Shadow of a Doubt (1943): Hitchcock's personal favorite of his own films. A young woman begins to suspect that her charming Uncle Charlie is hiding something terrible.

Double Indemnity (1944): An insurance salesman, a femme fatale, and a scheme that's double the trouble. Sharp dialogue and one of the best double-crosses on film.

Notorious (1946): Cary Grant and Ingrid Bergman go undercover in postwar Rio in Hitchcock's elegant blend of spy thriller and romance.

Strangers on a Train (1951): Two strangers, one unsettling proposal. Hitchcock at his most suspenseful, with a carousel climax you won't forget.

Cape Fear (1962): Gregory Peck and Robert Mitchum face off in this tense psychological thriller, and it has a hometown twist: the original Cape Fear was filmed in Savannah and right here on Tybee Island. Keep an eye out for familiar scenery between the gasps.
