Chairmen of the Board have been delighting soul music fans for over 30 years. Formed in Detroit, they were one of the first acts signed to Holland/Dozier/Holland’s Invictus label after the legendary songwriting team parted ways with Motown. The group burst onto the scene in 1970 with the smash hit “Give Me Just a Little More Time,” followed by classics like “Dangling on a String,” “Pay to the Piper,” and “Everything’s Tuesday.” Led by the iconic General Johnson until his passing in 2010, the group continues today under the leadership of longtime member Ken Knox, joined by Thomas Hunter, Patrick McGuire, and a full backing band. They found renewed success in the 2000s with “Bless Your Heart” and charted again in 2015 with “Reach Out 2 Me”—a UK Top 5 Soul hit. Their timeless music remains in the spotlight, featured in a national Swiffer commercial and regularly played at Carolina Panthers games, where they’ve also performed live. In recognition of their enduring impact, Chairmen of the Board are proud members of the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.
